Kuni was one of the first followers of Hida and the founder of the Kuni family of the Crab Clan.
Day of Thunder[]
After the Day of Thunder, when Fu Leng was defeated, Shinsei and Shosuro returned with the Black Scrolls, Kuni himself met them as did Togashi-no-Kami, who had expected them. Before succumbing to her wounds, Shosuro gave Kuni an account of the battle between the Thunders and Fu Leng. They kept the record secret, guarded. [1] Shosuro's account was written in one of the Asako family cyphers by Lady Asako herself. [2]
Hida's Follower[]
As the clan and its defenses grew, the Kami sought out the strongest and most capable of his followers among the Crab to act as his lieutenants. He challenged his followers to prove that they were strong enough to stand beside him. Three stepped forward. The very first was Hiruma, a scout and hunter without equal. [3] Kaiu, a blacksmith, was the second to accept Kami Hida's challenge. And the shugenja Kuni was the third. Together, the trio embarked on a quest to slay Hajimeno Tatakai no Oni. Kuni was an ambitious scholar dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge. Through his invocations, Hajimeno Tatakai no Oni was ensnared in an elemental vortex, allowing Hiruma to land the killing blow. [4] Working together, they had prevailed and were accepted as the founders of the great families within the Crab. The stations of their descendants still reflected his role within that legendary battle, providing the scouts. [5]
