Kumo's Black Embrace was a Mastery 6 water spell [1] which allowed the shugenja to call upon the Great Sea Spider, which would emerge and attack at the caster command. It was created by the peaceful Asahina Shugenja during a bloody factional struggle among the Crane Clan to stem the monster. [2]
