Kokujin Dairu, Student of the Dark Lotus, was a tainted monk and kensai of the Spider Clan. He began tattooing his followers with the blood of a victim, as Kokujin Kuchika, [1] restoring the Kokujin family with him as its daimyo. Dairu was obsessed with prophecies of all kinds, and had uncovered many of Kokujin's darkest secrets. [2]
Biding her Time[]
Dairu told his student Kuchika about the incoming Evil Portents which would herald the rise of Jigoku, the time of the Dark Lotus was at hand. [3]
Conclave of Light[]
In 1200 new Oracles of Light were chosen, and the monk Oshiryo was the human selected to ask his questions. Dairu sneaked in the Conclave of Light and killed Oshiryo. The Oracles vanished, to leave the Shadowlands monk without the prize of asking a question to an Oracle. The Oracle of Earth Mirumoto Saori returned shortly after, to give Dairu a glimpse of the future, the prophecy heralding the Rise of Jigoku. [4]
