Kizoku was a title given to the decendants of Agasha Kasuga who provided guidance and advice to the Tortoise Clan prior to the creation of a Tortoise Clan Champion. [1]

The Tortoise Daimyo presented himself to each new Emperor during the first week of his coronation. In private the daimyo explained the clan's true purpose, revealing the wealth of information the clan hasd gathered on the various gaijin societies with whom they interacted. Each time, the daimyo offered his seppuku to the Emperor to atone for the clan's violation of Imperial Law. The offer was rarely accepted, and the Tortoise Clan had never been publicly rebuked for performing their duty to their Emperor. [2]
