Kitsune Forest was a forest of the Fox Clan. [1] It was formerly part of the lands of the extinct Bear Clan. [2] Kitsune Woods were crossed by the River Gold, located south to the Three-Man Alliance Plain and north to the Earthquake Fish Bay. [3]

Appearance[]

There were few forests as beautiful as Kitsune. The canopy filtered the sunlight into an emerald glow that saturated everything, while the ground was carpeted with mounds of moss, fragmented by trickling streams, and freckled with tiny white flowers. Fluffy spores became visible in beams of light as they drifted about trunks covered in step-like mushrooms. [4]

Hantei[]

Legends said that once Hantei-no-Kami himself spent several days in a grove of ancient oaks within the forest speaking with Shinsei, the Little Teacher. [5]

Kitsune and the Fox Clan[]

The Emperor Hantei Genji gave to the fledging Fox Clan the territory encompassing the Kitsune Forest. The forest had already been claimed by the kitsune fox spirits, and the Fox Clan had to adapt to the rules of their new home. [4]

Imikotoba[]

The spirits of Kitsune Forest requested that humans refrained from using several words, the imikotoba, while traversing their woods and instead employ their corresponding substitutions. [6]
