Kitsuki Kouri was a bushi, magistrate, and Kitsuki Investigator of the Dragon Clan.
Family[]
Kouri followed in the footsteps of his father, a magistrate who died defending others during the Rain of Blood, and joined the Open Eye Dojo. He had also learned the ways of an apothecary, as his mother was in Keen Eyes Strike Village, who suffered a fatal accident just prior to his gempukku. Kouri assumed the family household and the welfare of his three younger sisters. The War of Silk and Steel forced his family to take refuge in Shiro Kitsuki. [1]
Winter Court - 1168[]
Kouri was sent to the Winter Court at Kyuden Otomo in 1168, where he befriended Kitsuki Sasuke. With the help of Tsuruchi Kaya, both Kitsuki were appointed as yoriki to Emerald Magistrates present at the court, with Kouri serving under Hida Shara. [1] He participated actively in all of the criminal investigations and mysteries at Winter Court, as well as playing a useful roll in the clan's diplomatic efforts. He developed an elaborate network of allies and received many gifts from other, more prominent, members of the court. He developed a close friendship with Seppun Kiharu and, as a result, at the end of winter was offered the chance to train with the Miya Heralds. [2]
Ambassador to Medinat al-Salaam[]
When in 1169 Shosuro Jimen was named as new Emerald Champion, Kouri became an Emerald Magistrate. [1] Kouri was among those considered by the Scorpion Clan in 1169 as the Dragon Clan ambassador to Medinat al-Salaam, and chosen by Yogo Honami as someone who could be dangerous and should be sent. [3] Kitsuki Kouri and his younger sister left the Empire to serve in the Burning Sands. Kouri did not hear news from Rokugan for many years. [1]
