People |
Matsu Kāgi married into the Dragon Clan as Kitsuki Kāgi, [1] where he learned the Kitsuki Method. [2]
Demeanor[]
Kāgi was obsessed with Kolat, an heretical organization who worked against the rule of the descendant of the Kami. [1]
Station[]
Kāgi was stationed at the Castle of the Emerald Champion for several years, becoming the personal assistant of the Ruby Champion Agasha Sumiko, expecting the time he would become an Emerald Magistrate himself. He grudgingly respected the Emerald Champion Doji Satsume despite their clan feud, but he had never gotten along well with Sumiko, especially during the time she became the acting Emerald Champion after Satsume passed away in 1123. Kāgi did not believe in her ability to lead, though he had a sense of responsibility to help her avoid failure. Surprisingly a group of samurai trainees uncovered Kitsuki Tomo, one of Kāgi's assistants, as a member of the Kolat conspiracy, when he was trying to kill Sumiko. [1]
Emerald Magistrate[]
Kāgi was eventually named a fully fledged Emerald Magistrate, yoriki to the new Emerald Champion Akodo Toturi himself. [2] He eventually supported Doji Kuwanan when Satsume's son was investigating his father's death. [3]
Blood of the Lioness[]
Kāgi was sent to the Castle of the Swift Sword, who had to render a judgment over a Scorpion claim regarding a diamond mine situated in Unicorn territory. The Scorpion claimed that the Unicorn promised them the rights in exchange for the Scorpion's aid during the Battle of Snow Plain in 820. A group of samurai were summoned to the Akodo War College at the behest of the acting Emerald Champion, Agasha Sumiko, to gather information regarding the dispute, and report it to Kāgi. They arrived at the castle several days before him. Kāgi traveled with Shosuro Aishi and Ide Tsubame, the representatives of the Scorpion and the Unicorn. The samurai located the official record of the conflict in the Ikoma Hall of Scribes, and they used what they had learned to prevent further conflict, between the Unicorn, Scorpion, or Lion. The samurai reported that Shosuro Amane, Aishi's direct ancestor, had manipulated the records of the battle, so the battle would be recorded as a Unicorn win that was accomplished due to Scorpion aid. [4]
Emperor's Death[]
Kāgi aided Akodo Kaede to keep in secrecy Toturi's location, where the Emerald Champion had to recover from a badly wound suffered from unknown assailants. Kaede reported to her husband that the Emperor, Hantei the Thirty-Eighth, had died. Toturi began to ponder his failure and an impending seppuku. [5]
