Kitsu Ayako

Parents: Kitsu Taigen (adopted)
People

Kitsu Ayako was a skilled librarian of the Lion Clan. She was of small stature, young, soft-spoken, and helpful. [1]

Ancestry[]

Born a peasant, Ayako was adopted by Kitsu Taigen. She had never been trusted with Kitsu secrets, so Ayako felt like an outsider. She became a librarian of the Akodo Military Library at Castle of the Swift Sword. She was unaware that her direct ancestry went back to the ancient kitsu, possessing unusual abilities such as the capacity for ancestral summoning. It was her ancestor Kitsu Yū who intervened to catch the attention of Taigen. [1]

Investigation[]

In 1123 a group of samurai were investigating about the events of the Battle of Snow Plain, which was fought in 820. The Scorpion Clan claimed that the Unicorn promised them the rights of a diamond-rich mine in exchange for their aid during the battle. Ayako found in the Kitsu Archives a strangely worded death poem of Yū, who had participated in the battle. Eventually she learned Yū was her ancestor, and realized she was deeply connected to her. The samurai reported to Kitsuki Kāgi, the Emerald Magistrate in charge of settling the claim, that the Scorpion had manipulated the records of the battle, so the battle would be recorded as a Unicorn win that was accomplished due to Scorpion aid. After these events Ayako began to be taught as a shugenja, that would be a powerful one. [2]
