Kites were tethered aircrafts that flied when air flowed over and under the kite's wing. During the Doll Festival the boys flied their kites, [1] which were symbols of success. [2] Among the samurai, the construction and flying of kites was elevated to an art-form. [3] Some Great Clans, such as the Unicorn, began to use sun-kites to signal orders in the battlefield. [4]
