Kirei-ko was originally a cosmetic to shade women's eyes in the Scorpion and Crane Clans. Since one Shosuro wife remarked to her husband that it caused her eyes to tingle, it became one of the most popular Shosuro poisons. [1]

Ingested in powder or liquid form, it affected the nervous system. Dilated pupils, blurred vision, dry skin and mouth, and hallucinations were the less dangerous, but high heart rate and blood pressure could kill the target. [2]
