The Kintani Valley, also known as the Golden Valley, [1] was a part of the Anshin Province [2] renowned for its gentle hills, immaculately kept inns, and friendly merchants. [3] It homed Kyotei Castle and the nearby town of Chizuken, which were strategically located between Lion, Crane, and Phoenix lands. The valley was the ancestral land of the Damasu family until they were slaughtered to the last man by the forces of the Tsume Daimyō Tsume Retsu in 1103. The Doji family allowed Retsu to hold the castle as its new lord, and the valley became the ancestral land of the Tsume family. [4]
