Kaya Mori was a tiny forest located in the Spine of the World Mountains near the borders of the Unicorn and Miya lands. The Tortoise tended to a stock of Kaya trees, the superb wood used in the construction of Go boards, which was in danger to disappear due to the popularity of the game. The Hantei chose the Tortoise to look over the trees and ensure they would be available for future generations. [1]
