Kata (TCG)

Kata

Kata were formal prearranged movements that taught a student proper fighting Rokugani techniques. Kata allowed a combatant to perform incredible martial feats and capitalize on openings that might slip away from less skilled combatants. They were primarily practiced by bushi and other dedicated martial artists, but some courtiers also learned them in case they were called upon to take to the battlefield.

Categories

Kata were categorized by the weapons they used:

• General Kata: they are not limited to a specific weapon or combat style
• Close Combat Kata: they are performed with weapons that use the Melee or Unarmed skill
• Ranged Combat Kata: they are performed with weapons that use the Ranged skill
