Agasha Kasuga was a shugenja of the Dragon Clan who became the founder of the Tortoise Clan and the Kasuga family. [1]
Gaijin[]
In the middle of Fifth century the Empress Hantei Yugozohime abruptly ended the two-year open trade agreement with people from Pavarre, [2] a gaijin distant kingdom, who refused to accept her edict. The initial, terrific attack against the capital Otosan Uchi bolstered the Rokugani, who managed to defeat and drive off the gaijin ships in the Battle of White Stag. [1] The Empress herself was killed, and no mercy was shown to the gaijin on Rokugan's soil. [3]
Founding the Tortoise[]
Kasuga helped the surviving gaijin to safely escape. In a private audience with the Emperor Kasuga was pardoned, and his followers were granted Minor Clan status. [1]
Ancestral Duty[]
The Tortoise were born as a secret defense against gaijin activities that might imperil the Empire. [1]
