Kakita Shimizu was the fourth child of Kakita and the Lady Doji. [2] He was the first Iaijutsu master of the Kakita Dueling Academy, the founder of the Kakita family, and the second Emerald Champion in Rokugan. [3]

Shimizu trained with Hantei Genji and the pair travelled much of Rokugan together. [4]
Emerald Champion[]
In 48 Shimizu won the tournament to select a replacement for Kakita. [5] He died after long service as the Emerald Champion. Doji Sasumagi won the third Test of the Emerald Champion. [6]
