Kakita Noriko was an artisan and musician of the Crane Clan.
Musician[]
Noriko was a skilled musician, and some said her songs alone were worth dying for. [1]
Married[]
In 1168 Noriko attended Winter Court and met Doji Jorihime, who arrange a good marriage for her, to one of the Doji Provincial Governors. [2]
Hoketuhime's death[]
Through intervention of Jorihime, Noriko became the musician of Otomo Hoketuhime, the Otomo Daimyo, during the illness of Hoketuhime's Kyuden Otomo resident musician, Otomo Suzuka. [3] In 1170 Noriko's play was interrupted with the news of the murder of the Hoketuhime in her chambers at the Imperial Palace. [4]
