Kaiu Sudaro was a samurai who became the Fortune of Persistence.

Sudaro's young son had been lost in the Shinomen Forest for weeks, but he reappeared unharmed, protected by some mysterious power of the forest. From a single piece of stone he carved a massive torii gate, and transported it to the site his son appeared. The labor took him many years, most of his life, and that, after his death, earned him ascension as the Fortune of Persistence, and the arch was known as the Gates of Persistence. [1]
