Kaiu's Smithing Tools' were the forging tools of the first Kaiu. These tools were initially used by his descendents, until it was evident they had been awakened as a nemuranai. Since then the tools were used less and less often, handled by the most skilled smith in the family, and only for the most important tasks as a set of armor for Emperor Hantei Fujiwa commissioned by Crab Clan Champion Hida Ichido. Ritual[]
Smithers spent two-day ritual of meditation, fasting, and mental preparation, praying to Kaiu throughout the entire crafting process. The Kaiu family realized that even the best crafters must occasionally fail, but failure due to incompetence led to severe punishment. [2]
