The Jizamurai were Rokugani lords of smaller rural domains, [1] and smaller groups of samurai, such as vassal families, small Minor Clans, or officially-sanctioned bands of rōnin. [2] Lords used jizamurai to garrison their holdings, patrol the roads and borders, and protect their castles. [3]
