Iuchi Takaai
Iuchi Takaai was a shugenja of the Unicorn Clan.
Training[]
Takaai's strongest abilities had related to movement, and he became a student to Master of Air Isawa Eju. When he returned to his clan, he had developed his own form of magic to aid infantry units in keeping cavalry. [1]
Demeanor[]
Takaai whished to prove his worthy, because he felt ignored by his kin, and reviled by those outside his Clan, despite he was a member of the Imperial Court with his own quarters inside the Imperial Palace at Otosan Uchi. [2] He spent most of his life trying to find parallels between the Meishodo magic and the Tao of Shinsei. By incorporating the two, he found some remarkable effects. [3]
Manipulator and manipulated[]
In 1125 Takaai reported to the Unicorn Clan Champion Shinjo Yokatsu that the Otomo were determined to maintain the Winter Court in Otosan Uchi at all costs. Takaai suggested to detain the ambassadors from the other Great Clans as a mean to press for holding winter court at Shiro Shinjo. After the clan representatives became captives, the Unicorn diplomats were retaliated similarly and signs of war where everywhere. Takaai, influenced by Bayushi Kachiko, the Emperor's wife, had manipulated Yokatsu, in hopes he could surface as the man who avert war al the last moment. [4] Winter Court was eventually held at Kyuden Kakita and the Clan War Kachiko had devised as revenge for her disbanded Clan was in motion.
