People

Iuchi Kenshin was a bushi of the Ki-Rin Clan.

Rebuked by his Father[]

Kenshin was born during the Ki-Rin's Exodus, son of a prestigious shugenja. As soon as Kenshin was sent for training, it was clear he had not been gifted to speak with the kami. His father wasted little time in producing another heir, a shugenja that could follow in his footsteps. Kenshin's sister was a promising shugenja, and was named as her father's heir. Kenshin was sent to train with the guardsmen and servants. [1]

Death[]

Kenshin died in 223, when the four Ki-Rin families split to traverse the Burning Sands. [1]

Legacy[]

Secrecy[]

Kenshin had two heirs, the firstborn was female and a talented Iuchi Shugenja, while the second followed in his father's footsteps. This tradition continued for centuries, with all male descendants of Kenshin showing no ability to command the kami and all female descendants displaying mastery over the magical arts, and kept in secrecy. [1]

Vassal Family[]

Eventually one of his male descendants, Iuchi Sun Ni, saved in 1145 the Iuchi Daimyo's heir. Questioned by his daimyo, Sun Ni exposed his family's shame, and in reward the daimyo granted him the Kenshin vassal family, with the duty to guard the shugenja of the family. [1]
