Iuchi was a shugenja and one of the first followers of Shinjo-no-Kami. He was founder of the Iuchi family. [1]

Kiro[]

Iuchi imbued Shinjo's sword, Kiro, with cosmic energies in order to connect it to Ningen-dō, the Realm of Mortals. [2]

Shinjo's Journey[]

In the year 45 his Lady gathered to her the bravest and most faithful of her followers, such as Ide, the wise Iuchi, and Utaku Shiko. They passed beyond the border of Rokugan to learn about any unknown threats that laid there. [3]

Demise of the Rempet Empire[]

After a generation among the Ujik, the Ki-Rin Clan resumed their joureny and marched west, where they encountered the Cradle of the World, ruled by the pharaoh Nephrentep of the Rempet. They adored the Sun God, Shem, and Shinjo was declared to be Shem's sister from afar. Nephrentep's hospitality was a ruse, and he snatched Shinjo spiriting her away to his temple-palace. The sorcerer's king undying guard attacked the Ki-Rin and drove them into hiding. Iuchi declared that the sinister priests of Rempet were blood sorcerers and that they intended to use Shinjo's divine blood in a ritual to prolong Nephrentep's life. The Ki-Rin found allies among the al-Qamari, a secret organization devoted to opposing the Sun Kings. Together the Rempet enemies staged an attack doomed on failure on Nephrentep's temple-palace. Eventually the moon blotted out the sun, throwing day into night, and ruling supreme until Nephrentep was cast down and Shinjo liberated. The oppressed peoples of Rempet rallied under Shinjo's banner and destroyed the corrupt empire of the sorcerer-kings. [3]

Meishōdō[]

When Iuchi's prayers to the Kami went unanswered, he sought another way to survive in other lands. [4] Iuchi, a renowned polyglot, [5] learned from sahir name magic in the Burning Sands, which would be known as meishōdō, [1] to replace the Fortunes' blessings. Drawing on the power of the true names of things, this mysterious practice provided an advantage to the Ki-rin Clan's shugenja in the form of talismans. [4] He realized that as his clan left Rokugan, they would need a new way to maintain bonds with spiritual entities in places with significantly different spiritual biomes, and his folllowers were known as Keeper of Names. [6]

Division of the Clan[]

Shinjo realized that the world was too big, so she divided the Ki-Rin Clan into five hordes and sent them each in a different direction. Iuchi took the Green Horde south, and they never reunited with their bethren. [3]
