Isawa Yasu was an Ishiken of the Phoenix Clan. Service had given Yasu definition, purpose, but no joy. Counseled by his father Yasu took Kaito Shin, a sarcastic, angry, and impulsive young priest as his assistant, who eventually shifted into a man with honesty, conviction, and confidence. In 1120, in the first day of the Month of Hantei, Yasu found a forgotten shrine at a crossroads in Phoenix lands, and he appeased the spirit bound to the shrine, Reiichi. [1]
