Isawa Ranmaru was a shugenja of the Phoenix Clan married to Isawa Juriko. Some suggested his wife might one day become the next Master of Fire, and took some students under his wing such as Isawa Aki. Unfortunately, something went wrong, and Juriko died in a horrible fire. Ranmaru blamed Isawa for his wife's death. [1]
