Isawa Konetsu was a Jade Magistrate of the Phoenix Clan who lived in the 12th century. He heard about the cursed road in the Twilight Mountains known as the Path to Jigoku, and swore to cleanse the path of whatever evil spirits corrupted it. Konetsu traveled the path and easily obliterated a ronin which attempted to stop him. He eventually came across a remote valley known as the Lair by its inhabitants, the unknown last remnants of the the Boar Clan. Konetsu could not defeat the entire strength of the Boar and surrendered to their leader, the Jomei, who offered Konetsu a choice between death or becoming permanent “guest” residing there. Konetsu decided to live, and he never returned to Rokugan again. [1]
