Inferno Guard was one of the Elemental Legions of the Phoenix Clan, devoted to the Fire element.

The Wall is Breached

In 1123 the Inferno Guard was part of a Phoenix Army which moved to the south, expecting to settle an issue with the Crab. When they reached the main Crab forces near the shores of the Cherry Blossom Snow Lake, they were reported that the hordes of Akuma no Oni had breached through the Kaiu Wall and overrun the Crab defenses, marching northwest, to the Shinomen Forest. The Phoenix joined the Crab and the forces of several Minor Clans who had pledged to help. In the Battle of Cherry Blossom Snow the Oni Lord was killed by Shiba Tsukune, the Phoenix Clan Champion.
