Ikebana was the art of flower arranging, and was a respected and beautiful form of expression. Flowers had forms to be arranged in that were as ancient as many other customs of Rokugan. Flowers were considered to be lucky, and arranging them would bring good omens from the kami to the household. Scattering petals was said to ward off ill fortune and disease, and often given to the sick or old to bring them long life and health. [1] Crane, Dragon and the Lion Clan favored the art of the Ikebana, creating the famous Story gardens, places where flora was arranged to relate a tale. [2]

Styles[]

It was popular the Seven Branches Style, one for each Great Clan that existed until 1173. Since the Spider Clan was elevated as the eighth, several ikebana displayed a variation to include eight vases. [3]
