Hotaka was the Champion of the Mantis Clan who marched the bushi of the Mantis to aid the Crab Clan against the Shadowlands menace, The Maw. The Crab Clan Champion offered the Mantis the Ono of Osano-Wo, which the minor clan accepted, though declaring they would have fought the menace anyway. Hotaka and the Ono were lost in the Battle of the Cresting Wave. [1] His sashimono survived and it became the Battle Standard of the Mantis. [2]
