Hiruma Mai was a bushi of the Crab Clan, the "Iron Hummingbird". [1]
Hiruma's Daughter[]
Mai was the daughter of the original Hiruma. Mai was full of the same bravado as her father and constantly sought to prove her superiority to anyone she met. Her ruthless and unforgiving military tactics and instruction style served to forge the Hiruma into what they would become. [2] She was also a notorious gambler who never turned down a wager. [1]
Death[]
There were many tales about her death, but the truth was that she was betrothed to an Ikoma Daimyo to whom she lost a bet. Mai was furious that her ego got her into such a situation, so she spread many flamboyant stories of her disappearance before quietly sneaking into Ikoma lands under a false name and marrying her husband. She remained loyal to the Crab until she died of old age. [2] Her deescendants lived among the Lion Clan. [1]
