Hikiwake was the fifth step of Kyujutsu, drawing apart. The archer had already prepared to draw, uchiokoshi, so he pushed the bowstave forward with his left hand and pulled the arrow and bowstring back as far as his eyebrow. He was now prepared to full draw, Kai. [1]
