Hida Kugen in 137 became the Acting Crab Clan Champion until Hida Akemi, the granddaughter of Hida Tekien, came of age. [1]

Kugen made a loveless marriage with the small and eccentric samurai-ko Hida Akemi, who bore him several children. Little was known of Kugen, though his colorful wife was depicted far more often in the Crab libraries. [2]
