People |
Hida Kisada, Defender of the Wall, [1] nicknamed the Great Bear, was the Crab Clan Champion. He wore a trademark mempo of steel and gold colors. [2] His Clan, the Crab Clan, defended Rokugan against the goblins, ogres, undead, and oni of the Shadowlands, standing over the great Carpenter Wall. [3]
Family and Advisors[]
Kisada had several children, his eldest was Hida Yakamo, his youngest son was Hida Sukune, and his daughter was Hida O-Ushi. His nearest advisors were his daimyo, such as Kaiu Shihobu, Yasuki Taka alongside with his son Yasuki Oguri, and Hiruma Yoshino. [2] Kisada's wife had died shortly after she gave birth to Sukune. His younger sister had died when she gave birth his nephew Hida Amoro. [4]
Shadowlands Threat[]

Hida Kisada
During his reign the largest and most dangerous Shadowlands army ever recorded marched on the Carpenter Wall. Hida Kisada and his children must gain the support of the entire Empire to turn back the tide of destruction or risk being broken beneath the evil Shadowlands onslaught. [5] Kisada was worried that Shadowlands troops amassed in such a fashion, as they were much more likely to hide their real strength. [2] Kisada begans to mutter over the matter of the Emperor's apparent lack of interest in the mounting threat to the Wall. [6] After the Emperor's death, during the regency of the Scorpion Clan Champion Bayushi Shoju, Kisada wrote a letter to the Imperial Regent, reporting the latest string of failed battles along the Kaiu Wall, with parts of the Wall itself ravaged to the point of collapse. [7]
Kikyo[]
In 1123 Kisada moved to the Kuni Castle and had a meeting there. He ordered to mount an expedition to retrieve Kikyo, an armor forged by Hida Osano-wo himself for his lost brother Hida Atarashi, and appointed Sukune as its commander, and Hida O-Ushi as his lieutenant, accompanied by Kuni Yori. They moved to the Shinomen Mori guided by the Nezumi Rememberer of the Tattered Ear Ros'ku, who had seen the armor in the Cave of Bloody Ghost Fire, within the dreaded Shadowed Swamps. The Crab expedition faced many dangers in their way to the Cave, but eventually Sukune succeeded and returned with the armor. [4]
The Wall is Breached[]
The hordes of Akuma no Oni breached through the Kaiu Wall and overrun the Crab defenses, marching northwest, to the Shinomen Forest. Kisada was wounded during the defense of the Castle of the Forgotten, a spear broke through his armor and pierced his belly. He delegated command on his younger son, Sukune, who assembled the forces of the Crab and several Minor Clans in the shores of the Cherry Blossom Snow Lake. [8] News arrived to Kisada that the Rokugani had managed to kill the Oni Lord. [9]
Recovering[]
Kisada pulled through and improved after sustaining grievous injuries, although the Crab Clan itself had to recover from the devastation wrought by Akuma no Oni's Shadowlands horde. Daimyō Yasuki Taka sailed with a contingent of the Imperial Legions to begin emergency repairs to the Carpenter Wall, lest another threat rise from the south while a gap existed in the clan's defenses.
