Hida Isoshi was a trusted aide of Crab Clan Champion Hida Banuken and general during the war against The Maw who died twenty years after the Maw's invasion. He has been erased from history, and his tale was only told to the heirs of the Hida family line. Isoshi, trusted without question by Banuken, was extremely tainted and at his death, he burst into hundreds of creatures that escaped into the Shadowlands. However in all of his years in service, not even the Kuni Witch Hunters had suspected the general's secret. [1]
Investigation[]
When investigations began on Isoshi's record, a disturbing trend was uncovered. Although Isoshi had a flawless battle record, having never lost a battle to The Maw, every area he had formerly commanded, including Kyuden Hiruma, was lost in crushing defeat. Investigators reported that Isoshi had sabotaged the defenses of these areas or reported troop movement to The Maw's army leading to their loss. By luck, Isoshi was in Lion lands gaining reinforcements during the Battle of the Cresting Wave, otherwise, it was believed he would have sabotaged Kuni Osaku's efforts, allowing the Maw to run rampant through Rokugan without the Kaiu Wall to stop it. No one in the Empire knew how close it came to annihilation, but now officers and advisors in the Crab Army were thoroughly interviewed by tsukai-sagasu to insure their loyalty. [2]
