Hatsuken was a ronin doshin in service to Bayushi Arunsa, an Emerald Magistrate. In 1172 he was in Unicorn lands where a Imperial tax collector was found murdered. In front of Kuni Tanin, a Jade Magistrate, and Moto Hotei, a Seppun Magistrate sent by the Imperial Treasurer Yoritomo Utemaro, Hatsuken requested all jurisdictions should be ceded to him. While doing it he spoke ill about Utemaro which enraged a Hotei's assistant, Yoritomo Sunagawa. Hatsuken was struck by the hulking brute and fell unconscious. He was not allowed to join the investigation. [1]
