The Hare Clan was one of the Minor Clans of Rokugan. It was founded in recognition of a rōnin who distinguished himself in battle against a terrible blood sorcerer centuries ago. Since then, the Usagi family had devoted itself to finding and battling mahō tsukai wherever they might be found. [1] The Castle of the Hare was their ancestral seat of power. [citation needed]

The ancestral duty of the Hare was to root out the evil of mahō from Rokugan. The Hare took their roles as watchers very seriously. What the Kuni Witch Hunters missed, the patience Hare took the time to find. [2]

[3] Hare Clan villagers were superstitious but bold, foraging in Shinomen Mori. [4]
