The Hantei Dynasty was founded by Hantei, becoming the Emperors of Rokugan. [1] Kunshu was its ancestral weapon. [2] None but the Emperor and their immediate kin could use the Hantei family name. The other heirs joined peripheral Imperial families upon reaching adulthood. [3]

It was traditional for the Hantei to choose a samurai from the Doji family as their spouse. [4]
