Hantei XXXIV was the thirty-fourth Emperor of Rokugan, the Monastic Emperor. [1]
Emperor and Retirement[]
Hantei XXIV had spent his childhood studying the Tao of Shinsei rather than politics and military tactics, and when his father Hantei XXXIII died suddenly, he felt unprepared to take the Throne. Surrounded by monk advisors, the new Emperor implemented changes which emphasized on ascetic self-denial and virtuous poverty. The samurai disliked these policies, and eventually several prominent Abbots explained to him that Enlightenment could not be imposed by law. The Emperor rescinded his policies, retired, and joined the Brotherhood of Shinsei. [1]
Known Events in his Reign[]
Bayushi Genshi was found murdered without her female organs in the seventh year of his reign. Her death remained unsolved. [2]
Hida Monzaemon created the popular improptu kabuki performances among the Crab samurai stationed at the Kaiu Wall. [3]
