Hade was a rōnin who worked as a bouncer at the Waiting Cat at the Dockside, in the town of Slow Tide Harbor. His lover was Ikue, a young woman who lived in one of the town's brothels. He used to wear a jumble of different-colored garments and wore a gaudy eye patch. Hade befriended Doji Hiroshige, Kasuga Toru, and Kakita Amano, who were opium smokers. eventually Hade lost his job because of his addiction of opium. In 1123 a local cult of mahō-tsukai kidnapped Toru and Hiroshige, and they were later released by a group of Emerald Magistrates. [1]
