Hachiman was the Fortune of Battle. He oversaw his own court to decide which side he would favor in upcoming conflicts. [1]
Worship[]
A Shrine to Hachiman was built at Toshi Ranbo, a contested city plagued by fights between the Lion and Crane Clans. [2] He was the most popular Fortune among the samurai class. As a human, he was born with an archery glove already on his hand. History honored him as the inventor of mounted archery. The monks of Hachiman kept hin his greatest shrine a library of letters, poems, and texts that he reportedly penned himself. Read closely, many of them seem to predict the coming of Shinsei hundreds of years later. It was said that if an invading fleet from beyond Rokugan ever comes to its shores, Hachiman would descend from Tengoku in the form of a tornado to beat the invaders back. [3]
