Gusai Rioshida was the third Mantis Clan Champion of the Gusai family.
Death[]
Roshida attempted a coup by kidnapping the son of the Emperor. To save their clan, Rioshida was betrayed by his own family. The Emperor spared the clan, but stripped them of their family name. [1]
Saving his Clan[]
Rioshida had commanded Yohihotsu to take the boy to safety when he saw that his coup attempt was failing. Realizing that his entire clan would be destroyed if he did not sacrifice his life, Rioshida gave the Prince to Yohihotsu, and ordered that the 'betrayal' commence. [2]
Legacy[]
His trademark weapon, called Rioshida's Kusarigama, was preserved in a small shrine protected by members of the Order of Osano-Wo. [3]

The sources relating to this article are in conflict with each other. |
| Third Edition names the Champion Rioshida and the attempt was a kidnapping. A Hero's Death, Chapter Two names the Champion Yurimanu and the attempt was an assassination. It is assumed that the Third Edition book is the correct source. A Hero's Death, Chapter Seven names the champion Rioshida. It is obvious now that Chapter Two was erroneous. |
