The Guardians of the Bear were those Crab who pledged their lives and loyalty to Kisada upon his return to the Mortal Realm. They became the honor guard of the Great Bear. [1]

The death of Kisada in 1170 shamed the Guardians and resulted in twenty-four Guardians committing mass seppuku. [2] Only those who were absent from Koten at the time of his death remained alive. [1]
