People

Kakita Gosano was the Kakita Daimyo until his retirement in 827. [1]

Seeking Revenge[]

Gosano's family was killed in an assault of forces from the Matsu family, and Gosano swore revenge. His anger led eventually to the Battle of the Broken Daisho in 827, a battle ended only through the intervention of Phoenix Clan forces, the resolution of which led directly to his decision to retire to the Asahina Temples after he cut down the Phoenix Champion Shiba Toriiko. Matsu Tusun received Gosano's broken swords shortly before the Crane withdrew the field. [2] [3]

Retirement[]

Kakita Gosano abandoned his family name as the monk Gosano. He lived many years in the Temples, practicing more peaceful pursuits. [2] Gosano became a somewhat notable poet later in life, writing the poem Worlds in Her Eyes. [4]
