The Giryu province was one of the Asako provinces of the Phoenix Clan and home of Kyuden Asako. Its governor was the Asako Daimyo. The Shiba granted lands to the Asako in the year 266, and the Asako Daimyo fortified it. The surrounding land was threatened by bandits in the nearby woods, the Crane to the south and the Dragon beyond the Isawa Woodlands to the west. [1] In the 12th century there was no Giryu province, and the lands alongside with Kyuden Asako became part of the Yogen province. [2]
