Isawa Gennai left the life of the samurai caste to devote his life to study, becoming the monk Gennai in the Agatamori Temple in the village of Mimura. He was the master of a great amount of forbidden lore. Gennai was very honorable and never revealed secrets that were too big for the listener to hear. [1]
