The First Wall was a belt of fortifications—watchtowers, palisades, and bulwarks— designed by Hida and his followers to block attacks from the forces of Fu Leng. This wall predated the continuous stone wall which would be known as the Kaiu Wall. Under the Maw's cunning leadership, the First Wall's shortcomings were revealed. Fortress after fortress fell to the unrelenting offensive. On Last Stand Plain, the bulk of the Hiruma army was lost to the Maw's forces, and the core of the First Wall, Daylight Castle was entirely lost to the Shadowlands. The Crab finally stopped the Maw and its army at the River of the Last Stand. [1]
