Constrictor Warrior
The Constrictor Bloodline were the priests and mystics of the race, the rarest and least numerous of the Naga people. [1] They were also the duelists and masters of sheer strength. [2]
Role in the Naga society[]
The Constrictors were the backbone of the Naga armies, the mourner of the Naga who returned to the Akasha, and renowned astronomers, using a thin slice of pearl as a lens for their far-looking glasses. [3] They were skilled duelists and masters of sheer strength. [4]
Scarcity[]
Constrictors were extremely rare, even more so than the Cobra, but their wisdom and connection to the Akasha was valued by even the most jaded Asp warrior. There was no question that the Constrictors' understanding of the Akasha was far superior to all other Naga Bloodlines, naturally leading to their roles as priests and religious leaders. [5] They also were valued at times of stress for their ability to plumb the depths of the Akasha and summon forth memories from the race's past to aid in the solving of modern dilemmas. Diviners[]
Some of the most ancient Constrictors could drew images of the future and the past from the Akasha. However some Constrictors had sunk their souls so deeply into the pond of the Akasha that they had never returned, remaining in a comatose state until their bodies withered and died from starvation. Constrictor eggs died and withered in the nests, and few of those born lived to see their third Shedding of the Skin. [3]
Appearance and Demeanor[]
Constrictors were larger and more weighty than most other bloodline. [6] Constrictors were almost without exception somber and conservative. They took their duties very seriously and were not given to flights of fancy or pointless adventuring. Those who were found wandering in Rokugan were typically on a very specific quest or mission that would in some way benefit the Naga as a whole. [7]
History[]
The First Naga War[]
The expansionistic Asp used their poisons to destroy the lesser bloodlines during the Bloodland Wars. The Greensnakes were enslaved, while the Chameleons escaped to the sea. Before they could conquer the Constrictor and Cobra Bloodlines, the Asp leader, the Shahismael, was killed by his lieutenant, the Shahadet. [8]
Constrictor Awakened[]
After the Naga entered again in the Great Sleep there were Constrictors that were awakened. The first was Chaldera in 1159. [9] The second was Qolsa in 1168. [10]
