The Emma-O's Spear was a powerful nemuranai. Those slain by it were cast into the eternity of gray nothingness of the melancholy realm of Meido. [1] It was an ebony spear. [2]
Fortune of Death[]
The Spear was first wielded by Emma-O, the Fortune of Death and keeper of Meido. [3]
Daigotsu[]
In 1159 Daigotsu traveled to Meido from the Imperial Throne Room using Tsuno magic and the aid of several nemuranai; the Steel Throne and the Porcelain Mask of Fu Leng. When the Daigatsu found Emma-O, he challenged the Fortune to a duel. During the fight, he impaled himself on Emma-O's spear, forcing his body along the shaft to get close enough to place the Porcelain Mask on the face of the Fortune. Only Fu Leng could release the powerful Mask, and wearing it would eventually result in Emma-O being slain, so the Fortune was forced to release the Ninth Kami from Meido or die. Emma-O summoned Fu Leng from his imprisonment elsewhere in Meido, and Fu Leng then took Emma-O's spear and also healed Daigotsu's wound. Fu Leng was able to use Sezaru's mask to ascend to Tengoku, his old home, and launch the Invasion of the Celestial Heavens. [3]
Fu Leng[]
In the Invasion of the Celestial Heavens Fu Leng used the Spear against the immortal defenders of Tengoku, the Fushicho, to slay Fortunes or even to kill his sister Shinjo, who was a Kami. [1] In 1160 Bishamon took advantage of a moment of weakness and seized Fu Leng's spear in both hands, shattering the powerful weapon in half. [4]
