Yasuki Eikyu was a Crab Clan merchant. From the time of his gempukku at age 13 until his retirement at age 25 in 1157, Eikyu was a driving force in the Crab's economy. [1]
Allies and Enemies[]
Eikyu was hated by the Daidoji family for his prowess in trade and made an ally of the Bayushi family in order to keep themselves on his good side. Throughout the War of Spirits Eikyu prospered, and the Crab with him. Those tired of dealing with the Mantis, Ide or Moto found a happy partner in Eikyu. [1]
Retirement[]
One night, in 1157, Daikoku appeared to Eikyu and told him to retire and become the leader of Daikoku's shrine within Yasuki lands. Eikyu had to beg his daimyo, Yasuki Oguri for the position, as Oguri was loathe to lose his most valuable merchant. Oguri agreed in the end, realizing that his favored servant would still be close by and available for counsel. Within a week of his retirement, Oguri was dead from a mysterious illness. [1]
As a monk, Eikyu was spared from the chaos of the Second Yasuki War. Eikyu and his friend, Yasuki Jinn-Kuen were able to do much to keep the Crab Yasuki united during turbulent times, all in line with Daikoku's purpose. [1]
