Ebisu

Ebisu

Ebisu was the Fortune of Honest Work and one of the Seven Fortunes. [1]

Appearance and Demeanor[]

Ebisu was dressed like a simple peasant in rough clothing, a net full of fish slung over one shoulder. Ebisu rarely blessed or cursed anyone, he simply did not have the time. [2] His most favored subjects were the peasants, who work harder than any other mortals and received virtually no reward. Ebisu favored the Mantis heavily because they earned their position among the Great Clans rather than having it given to them as a birthright. [3] He was also fond of the Badger Clan and the Shinjo family, both of whom had a reputation for ferocious and unrelenting determination. [4]

Celestial Unrest[]

In 1170 the seven fortunes supported the Jade Dragon and Obsidian Dragon when they challenged and defeated Yakamo, Lord Sun, and Hitomi, Lady Moon. [5]

Togashi ascends[]

The Kami Togashi was a lawbreaker of the Celestial Order, a mortal whose soul remained in Ningen-do avoiding death. It drew the attention of the Seven Fortunes who judged his interaction illegal. Togashi eventually accepted their judgment and ascended to Tengoku. [6]
