Before Duncan MacPhail joined the Player Design Team, he was a player who started when Imperial Edition and Shadowlands were the only sets. He submitted card ideas on a regular basis. In July 2006, he was invited to join the PDT. He found out the previous design team was leaving and AEG was assembling a new team. They were keeping a few long-time employees. Brent Keith, the lead designer of the L5R CCG was staying on, as were Mark Wootton and Roger Giner-Sorolla. The first result was Khan's Defiance. [1] He left the PDT in 2013. [2]
